Problem
This marine civil engineering company used wire ropes for anchors and hydraulic machinery. However, due to constant exposure to sea breeze and seawater, rust would quickly form even inside the wire ropes, necessitating frequent replacements. The company struggled with the costs associated with purchasing new wire ropes and the labor required for replacements.
To address this issue, they initially applied oil from another manufacturer to extend the lifespan of the wire ropes. However, due to its high viscosity, the oil had poor penetration and did not deliver the expected results.
Results
NCH proposed the use of High Core Plus, an anti-corrosion and damage prevention lubricant specifically designed for wire ropes and chains. NCH successfully helped solve the company’s challenges thanks to its various features.
- Deep Penetration into Wire Ropes
Hi-Core Plus has superior penetration compared to conventional oils. When applied with a brush or spray, it effectively reached deep into the wire rope. - Anti-Corrosion & Extreme Pressure Resistance
Once penetrated, Hi-Core Plus formed a protective layer that provided both anti-corrosion benefits and extreme pressure resistance, significantly contributing to the extended lifespan of the wire ropes. - Water Resistance
Hi-Core Plus created a highly water-resistant semi-dry film, which also helped reduce oil runoff.
As a result, the company significantly reduced costs associated with purchasing and replacing wire ropes. Additionally, they reduced environmental impact by maximizing resource efficiency and minimizing oil runoff.
