Case Study | Chem-Aqua | Multinational Hospitality Chain Slashes Annual Energy Costs with NCH aquaDart Cooling Water Management Program

Our client, a premier multinational hospitality chain with a global portfolio of full-service hotels and resorts, faced soaring energy costs due to scaling, fouling, and suboptimal cooling water treatment in their two chiller plants—200 TR X2 and 90 TR X1.

The cooling tower system, which is directly linked to the chiller, suffered from severe scaling due to high water parameters and ineffective chemical treatments. This led to frequent descaling and higher-than-expected energy consumption.

To resolve these issues, we deployed NCH aquaDart’s cooling water management program, complemented by a range of chemicals including CA31155, MB215, CBD 92, Actichlor, and BioExile L:

  • aquaDart was installed to continuously monitor and control critical parameters such as PTSA residual, pH, conductivity, and ORP.
  • CA31155 was used in a demand-based dosing regimen to manage scale formation.
  • CBD 92, an online descaler, removed existing scale, significantly reducing the chiller’s condenser approach temperature from 7.5°C at 44% load to 3.9°C at 74% load within 4 months.
  • Additional improvements included ORP control for hypochlorite, dedicated cooling tower loop management, and regular dosing of MB215 to control microbial growth. The system’s approach temperature improved to 2.5°C at 64% load with no further need for descaling.

With these comprehensive solutions, the client achieved substantial annual energy cost savings.

Case Study | Facilities | Hospital Reduces FOG Level from 104ppm to 3.9 ppm and Saves Health Department Penalty on Kidney Dialysis Waste

Our client, a leading healthcare facility, had been facing an increase in kidney dialysis patients, which resulted in a significant rise in waste production. Specifically, the wastewater shows three times the acceptable level of FOG (fats, oils, and grease), making it more challenging than typical cases.
Furthermore, the hospital had been disinfecting with chlorine before discharge into the sanitary sewer. This method also causes the death of beneficial bacteria, slowing the breakdown of waste. As a result, the hospital encountered considerable challenges related to the environment, time, equipment, and data.
