Unleashing Potential: Overcoming Self-Doubt and Embracing the possibilities at NCH
Four years ago, when I joined NCH, I never anticipated working in the field business. However, by embracing an open-minded approach to explore new possibilities, I have discovered that the experience in NCH is incredibly valuable. Today, I have a clear goal and a growing team, and I am proud of what we have accomplished together. Challenges on a daily basis is like a cup of coffee. It’s bitter but it energizes you. Here, everyone is an entrepreneur, and we are all committed to each other’s growth and success. NCH always takes our ideas seriously and gives us the space to develop.
My job, to build a team from 0 to 1, is not easy. The uncertainties along the way are scary, but also served as great motivation. The opportunity to establish a department from scratch and become a pioneer is rare. The work is hard but flexible and never boring. And the people I work with are amazing. They inspire me every day. Luckily, I have a very supportive team, especially my supervisors, Paul and DongEun. They listen to me and give me the space to try new things. They treat everyone with sincerity and respect, and that’s what makes our company culture so special.
Fear of failure used to be my greatest weakness which has brought me so much stress. However, it might be one of the reasons I can overcome those obstacles. Still, I am learning to be more resilient: to keep fighting without fear of losing. After various falls, relying on the strength of our team, I am still here to strive with everyone. As I took on more diverse roles and more responsibilities, I had to learn how to lead and inspire newcomers. I think the key is to lead with empathy and understanding. By doing that, I’ve gained valuable insights from the newcomers, and it brings me fresh perspectives to my career.
My advice to newcomers, also a reminder to myself, is “Your self-doubts are your enemy. Stop giving yourself excuses, just go and do it!” Focusing on doing your best and learning as much as you can. Rejections are inevitable in this journey, but if you are determined, it will only make you stronger.
Haruki Murakami wrote in his book, “What I Talk about When I Talk about Running”: “Pain is inevitable. But suffering is optional.” The beauty of working in NCH as an entrepreneur is also the pain. Even when you feel the pain, you still choose to face it, then you are just doing it right. You are on the way to success in NCH.
