Without regular cleaning, the HVAC system\u2019s performance will deteriorate.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At NCH Asia, we often hear the question \u201chow often should I clean my HVAC system?\u201d This depends on a number of factors such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The design of the system<\/li>\n<li>The purpose of the system<\/li>\n<li>The environment the system is running in<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, it should be mentioned that every HVAC system should be regularly cleaned and maintained. In this article, we will explore the problems associated with unclean HVAC systems as well as the measures that should be taken to avoid these issues.<\/p>\n<h2>POTENTIAL PROBLEMS IN UNCLEAN HVAC SYSTEMS<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Air filters<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 air filters clog up and allow dust particles and dirt to accumulate inside the system, causing a number of problems in the internal unit. Dirty filters cause a lack of air flowing through the system so the internal mechanisms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fans<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 clogged fans cause them to be sluggish and need to work harder to produce the same air-quality. A dirty fan increases the chances of a build-up of heat in the heat exchanger. When this happens, it can result in a complete system failure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cooling coils<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 an accumulation of dirt leads to cooling coils and other components within the HVAC system to malfunction. This can cause the evaporator coils to freeze. Once this happens, air-flow is restricted and the system is unable to maintain indoor climate control.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Air ducts<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 air quality is reduced when air ducts are dirty. Dust and dirt particles get into the air (which can be damaging to human health).
