Specifically, the wastewater shows three times the acceptable level of FOG (fats, oils, and grease), making it more challenging than typical cases.<br \/>\nFurthermore, the hospital had been disinfecting with chlorine before discharge into the sanitary sewer. This method also causes the death of beneficial bacteria, slowing the breakdown of waste. As a result, the hospital encountered considerable challenges related to the environment, time, equipment, and data.<\/p>\n<p>The health department imposed a penalty on the hospital for exceeding the legal FOG limit and issued a warning that operations might be halted if the FOG levels were not brought into compliance.<br \/>\nFollowing a comprehensive site analysis, we needed to provide a solution that will break down the complex waste composition and reduce the FOG that will work even with hospital&#8217;s existing chlorine disinfection system. The solution had to demonstrate measurable results within two months, prior to the next Health Department inspection.<\/p>\n<p>To solve the issue, we installed a fully customized <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nchasia.com\/en-sg\/product\/bioamp\/\">BioAmp<\/a> 600 system and introduced 30 trillion FreeFlow bacteria, accelerating the breakdown of organic waste.
