{"id":19005,"date":"2017-07-06T05:54:12","date_gmt":"2017-07-05T21:54:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nchasia.com\/en-th\/diesel-fuel-additives-do-they-work\/"},"modified":"2017-07-06T05:54:12","modified_gmt":"2017-07-05T21:54:12","slug":"diesel-fuel-additives-do-they-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nchasia.com\/en-th\/diesel-fuel-additives-do-they-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Diesel fuel additives \u2013 do they work?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Engines requiring more power and a heavier torque will usually run on diesel (rather than gasoline)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The effects of lower quality diesel (caused by a high sulphur content) can cause a variety of engine related issues, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High acid content<\/li>\n<li>Formation of deposits leading to poor performance<\/li>\n<li>A high rate of oxidation<\/li>\n<li>Starting problems<\/li>\n<li>Incomplete combustion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of the points above can lead to poor engine performance, lower fuel economy and can result in a reduced engine life expectancy (by up to 20%).<\/p>\n<h2><strong>HOW DO DIESEL FUEL ADDITIVES HELP?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a title=\"Diesel fuel websites\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nchasia.com\/en-au\/solutions\/lubricants\/fuel-additives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Diesel fuel additives<\/a>\u00a0work to counteract the effects of high sulphur content in diesel. This leads to the following benefits:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Reduced acid formation<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 high acid content attacks internal engine parts such as pistons and bearings and can cause costly breakdowns and downtime.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Inhibited oil oxidation and deposit accumulation<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 diesel that is stored for long periods of time suffers from oil oxidation. Deposits can form which leads to a reduction in the efficiency of the fuel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A reduction in abrasive wear<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 engine wear is worsened by the abrasive qualities in poor quality diesel. Reducing abrasion damage lengthens the life of the engine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A reduction in corrosive wear<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 similarly, corrosion caused by the build-up of acid damages internal parts and reduces the life expectancy of the engine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Increased energy efficiency<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 horsepower output is increased leading to lower energy consumption and higher productivity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fewer starting problems<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 additives work towards thinning fuel. This is beneficial because thicker fuel, particularly in colder conditions, can lead to problems in starting the engine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cleaner fuel systems<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 cleaner filters and fuel lines lead to improvements in fuel flow.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER USING DIESEL FUEL IMPROVERS OR ENHANCERS?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Additives such as combustion improvers, dispersants, oxidation inhibitors and demulsifiers\u00a0<a title=\"Fuel treatment\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nchasia.com\/en-au\/products\/lubricants\/product-list\/?shelf=FUEL+TREATMENT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">offer enhanced protection<\/a>\u00a0against poor quality fuel.<\/p>\n<p>The addition of diesel fuel additives can not only improve the efficiency and life span of an engine \u2013 they also have a positive impact on the overall performance of equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Evidence also suggests that fuel additives have a positive bearing on the environment.
