Case Study I Lubricants I Lubrication for Agricultural Machinery

Problem
Agricultural machinery contains numerous lubrication points. Due to exposure to water, mud, and high loads in the field, standard commercial greases often fail to maintain an effective oil film. This leads to frequent re-greasing and part replacement.
One of our customers in Nakashibetsu, Eastern Hokkaido, who runs a farming operation, previously used commercial grease on the joints of their liquid fertilizer spreader. As a result, they experienced frequent lubrication and part replacement.

Result
We recommended Premalube—a grease designed to reduce lubrication frequency and overall grease consumption.
The results were as follows:

  • Previously, lubrication was required every three days; now, once every two weeks is sufficient.
  • Annual grease consumption was reduced from approximately 70 cartridges to about 15.
  • Joint replacements, which were previously needed three times a year, are no longer necessary, resulting in a cost saving of approximately ¥1.2 million.
  • Lubrication time has been significantly reduced.
  • Lower grease usage also contributed to a reduction in CO₂ emissions.

Thanks to the superior lubrication performance of Premalube, the amount of grease required was reduced to less than one-third of the previous level.
As a result, we were able to reduce overall grease consumption, grease purchasing costs, and labor costs associated with lubrication.

Furthermore, the joints—previously requiring replacement three times a year due to heavy loads—no longer needed to be replaced.
Since each replacement costs approximately ¥400,000, this led to a significant reduction in maintenance costs.

NCH Asia Pacific provides optimal lubrication solutions that help protect equipment, reduce costs and labor, and minimize environmental impact for our customers.
