Case Study | Maintenance | Effective Online Pipe Repair Solutions for Facilities Management

In facilities management, maintaining pipe integrity is crucial. A facilities management subsidiary faced a pressing issue: a leaking pipe that could not be repaired with welding due to operational constraints. Shutting down operations to fix the leak would take up to 1-2 years, posing safety hazards and causing significant gas wastage.

Initially, an X brand wrap was used, which provided a temporary reduction in downtime but was insufficient for a long-term solution. The need was for a reliable, online repair method that would address the leakage without disrupting production.

To resolve this, a three-step repair solution was implemented:

  1. Aqua Stick: This product was applied first to address the leak immediately. Aqua Stick is ideal for situations where welding is impossible, as it can be used in wet conditions and stops leaks effectively while awaiting further repairs.
  2. Dyna Stretch & Seal: Following the initial fix, Dyna Stretch & Seal was used to provide a robust seal. It handles pressures up to 11 bar and resists a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Its watertight properties ensure excellent moisture resistance, even when applied fully submerged.
  3. Mega Pipe Repair HD: For a durable, long-term solution, Mega Pipe Repair HD was employed. This fast-curing resin-impregnated repair bandage is designed for cracked and damaged pipes. It offers excellent temperature, chemical, and corrosion resistance, making it ideal for protecting pipes from various corrosive media.

Before: The pipe was temporarily wrapped with an X brand wrap, which reduced downtime but was not a permanent solution.

After: The application of Aqua Stick, Dyna Stretch & Seal, and Mega Pipe Repair HD effectively stopped the leak, providing a reliable, long-lasting repair while keeping operations running smoothly. This approach not only ensured safety but also saved costs associated with gas wastage and potential operational disruptions.
