Passion, Persistence, and Progress: Lorna’s journey at NCH
When I first joined NCH over two decades ago, I never imagined the incredible journey that lay ahead. Starting as an Operations Staff under Accounts Receivable (AR) and eventually growing into my current role as Credit and Collections Manager, my career has been shaped by continuous learning, perseverance, and the invaluable support of my colleagues and mentors.
Over the years, I have encountered many challenges, but each one has pushed me to grow and refine my skills. My role involves managing and monitoring daily collections, which requires a balance of analytical thinking, patience, and effective communication. The work is demanding, but I have always found satisfaction in overcoming obstacles and finding solutions that benefit both the company and our clients.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey has been the relationships I’ve built along the way. Working with a team that shares the same dedication and commitment has made all the difference. I’ve had the privilege of learning from inspiring leaders, like Ma’am Maricel, whose guidance has helped shape my approach to leadership. Some of my most memorable moments include being recognized with the ‘Kabalikat Award’ and earning promotions to Supervisor and then Credit and Collections Manager. These milestones are not just about career advancement; they represent years of dedication, resilience, and the trust my colleagues and leaders have placed in me. Beyond my personal achievements, I have also enjoyed participating in team-building activities and strategic planning sessions that have strengthened my professional relationships and enhanced my skills.
Work-life balance has also been an essential part of my professional journey. Over the years, I’ve learned to manage my time effectively, ensuring that while I give my best at work, I also prioritize moments with my family. Whether it’s spending weekends with loved ones, engaging in personal hobbies, or simply taking time to recharge, I have found that maintaining this balance has helped me stay motivated and energized.
To anyone pursuing growth in their career, my advice is simple: stay committed, embrace challenges as opportunities for learning, and always be open to guidance from those who have walked the path before you. Success is not about reaching a destination but about continuously evolving and improving. One of my favorite quotes from Jack Canfield perfectly sums up my outlook: ‘If you love your work and enjoy it, you’re already a success.’ I hope that no matter where you are in your career journey, you find fulfillment in what you do and continue striving for excellence.
